Terms

The deal, in plain words.

Short, because the product is simple: a résumé studio that runs in your browser, with optional paid features. Using it means accepting what follows.

What the service is

Ahead on Paper is a résumé studio that runs in your web browser. It edits, formats and exports résumés locally, and offers optional AI features that use an API key you supply. Some capabilities require a paid plan.

An account is for access only. It does not store your résumés — those live in your browser. See the privacy notice for exactly what is and is not held.

Your account

  • You must be at least 16 to create one.
  • Give a real email address — it is the only way to reset a password, and the only way we can reach you.
  • Keep your password to yourself. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you.
  • One account per person. Sharing a Pro licence beyond what the plan allows is a breach of these terms.

Your work is yours

You own everything you write. We claim no licence over your résumé, your career profile, or anything you produce with the studio — which is straightforward for us to promise, because we never hold it.

AI features, and what they are worth

AI features send your text to a third-party model using your own API key, and you pay that provider directly for the usage. Their terms govern what they do with it.

Read anything a model writes before you send it to an employer. Language models invent details, overstate, and get facts wrong with total confidence. A résumé is a document you are personally accountable for. Everything the studio generates is a draft for you to verify, and the responsibility for what you submit is yours alone.

Nothing here is a promise of a job, an interview, or that any résumé will pass any particular applicant tracking system.

Acceptable use

Don’t:

  • Use the studio to create documents that misrepresent someone's identity, history, or credentials.
  • Attack the service — probing for vulnerabilities, scraping at volume, circumventing the licence check, or overwhelming it.
  • Resell or rebrand the service as your own. Coach and team plans exist for running it on behalf of clients.
  • Upload anything unlawful, or anything you have no right to use.

Availability

This is a small independent product. It is looked after carefully, but there is no uptime guarantee, no support SLA, and no promise that any particular feature will exist forever. If a paid feature is withdrawn during a term you have paid for, write to support@aheadonpaper.com and it will be made right.

Because the studio works locally, an outage on our side does not lock you out of your own documents.

Warranty and liability

The service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We are not liable for lost opportunities, lost data, or indirect or consequential damages. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid in the twelve months before the claim.

Keep your own backups. The studio exports JSON, PDF, Word and Markdown for exactly that reason, and browser storage can be cleared by the browser without warning us or you.

Ending it

You can delete your account at any moment from Settings → Danger zone. It happens immediately and cannot be undone.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. If we close a paid account for a reason that is not a breach, the unused portion is refunded.

Changes

These terms can change. Material changes move the date at the top and are emailed to account holders. Continuing to use the service after that means accepting the new version.
