Resume Keyword Checker

Compare your resume with a job description and see which of the posting's terms you already use and which you have left out. The comparison runs in your browser; the resume and job description you paste are not uploaded: they stay in this browser tab until you close the tab or choose to forget them.

Your text stays in this browser tab so that a reload does not lose it. It is not sent anywhere, and it is removed when you close the tab or choose to forget it.

How the estimate works

  • The most frequent terms in the job description are collected, ignoring common filler words, numbers, and letter case.
  • Each term is looked up in your resume. The percentage is the share of those terms that were found.
  • It compares single words only. It does not understand synonyms, phrases, or context, and it is not the score of any applicant tracking system.
  • Only add a missing keyword if it is true of your experience.

Questions and answers

How is the percentage worked out?

The tool collects up to 40 of the most frequent terms in the job description, leaving out common filler words and numbers, and looks for each one in your resume. The percentage is the share of those terms that were found.

Is this the score an applicant tracking system would give me?

No. It is a plain comparison of single words. Software used by employers varies and this tool does not know how any of it scores or ranks a resume, so the figure cannot predict that.

Should I add every missing keyword?

Only the ones that are true of your experience. The list is a prompt to check whether you left out something you have actually done, or described it in different words from the posting.

Why is a word I used shown as missing?

The comparison works on single words and does not understand synonyms, phrases or context. A term written differently in your resume from the way the posting writes it may not be matched.

Is the text I paste sent anywhere?

No. The check runs in your browser and the text is not uploaded. Everything you paste, including a job description, is kept in this browser tab's session storage so that a reload does not lose it, and it is removed when you close the tab or choose to forget it.

Do I need an account, and does it cost anything?

No account is needed and the tool is free to use.
